she’s not happy; so i hug her more
she pulls away; so we play, tug-a-war
things’ll change, or they won’t… & she’ll complain
while searching for another door
to endure her pain
she’s been rain; since i came swerving in her lane
i asked her name
she claimed, damsel in distress
standing in her dress; drenched in tears
a smeared appearance; looking a mess
handing her handkerchiefs, to clear her fear, wear & tear
her man, he tanked her wit, & sank her ship
& did other shit, that’ll make you sick
once them anchors hit, she’s been david blaine
straining to get them thangs, off her ankles quick
then i arrived, with the jaws of life
my paws’ll write, the shackles free
from any trap or tragedy, that’s kidnapped your sanity
see, right now, life vows, to keep cramming greed
deceit, & poison, hoisted from the trees of eden
the needy, needing better choices, & someone to believe in
misguided voices, leading greedy boys & girls
eating oysters, cracking clams for pearls, & coal
in hopes their best friends emerge, so bright
to give them life, & saves their soul
but no... no dice
no furs marked his & hers
no throwing rice
no calming words, to calm your nerves & tuck you in at night
still, every word she’s heard, & observed me write
has been a distant light
to spark, her dying heart & give it life
jaws of life
