sequoia tree

i'm in awe, as i mourn
i applaud, though i'm torn that you're gone
92 years, is a lot of years
& a lot of tears, & a lot of cheers
countless good times
good mornings, good nights, now good bye
to a good life that was shared
like wine through your vine... l'chaim
your beauty, your wisdom, your drive
you stubborn ass woman, i want your waffles
one more time
death is awful & a crime; your life was awesome & sublime
with adoring appreciation, of your creations, & your mind
you're the roots of, my foundation
you're my Methuselah; from you, i found patience
you're my Sequoia; from you, i found strength &
Glorya, you gave me mom, Gilda, & Gloria
the definitions of breathtaking; you're my Wisteria
clearly you're, absence prompts hysteria
i'm selfish, so this is not fair at all
as your presence stays colossal
your branches have expanded & blossomed
into a family that's gorgeous & awesome
now mirroring the posture of our matriarch
your heart's been my pentecostal & atrium
no i haven't lost you; i've gained another angel
from Riverside Drive to the sky
Uptown Girl, now you can finally fly
so don't be a stranger
